Value Added Tax (VAT) in the UK is the equivalent of GST in New Zealand.
VAT in the UK is currently 20%.
Some UK new and used cars, but not all, are eligible for the full VAT to be refunded when the car is confirmed as being exported to a non-European Community country, such as New Zealand. This is commonly known as VAT-qualifying.
Generally, only some later model cars are VAT-qualifying.
When possible Car Shopper Ltd will source VAT-qualifying cars.
It is important to note that Customs and Revenue require the VAT to be paid to the dealer until the car is confirmed as having gone for export.
If the car is VAT-qualifying, Car Shopper Ltd will assist with all the documentation required to ensure the VAT can be reclaimed for the benefit of the purchaser.
